About fishcarvings.co.uk

Wooden fish carving of a sea trout.

'From initially creating hand made clay sculpted, life-sized fibreglass models of fish  I 've progressed to my now preferred method of carving wood using the traditional techniques to create bespoke, traditional fish trophies'

~ Marc.

Taking inspiration from our trophy fish wood carvers of yesteryear, my fish wood carvings are mounted on to backboards which are inscribed with the description of each individual fish.

As an alternative to fish taxidermy mounts, these life size fish replica trophies are all individually painted in their natural colours, textured and detailed by hand  by myself in my workshop in North Wales.

    Marc Williams: Fish Restoration Service

Restoring and repairing of damaged fish wood carvings

This antique fish wood carving of a Brown Trout was brought to me by a client for restoration.

This particular fish had a missing dorsal fin as well as a missing pelvic fin and a damaged pectoral fin in need of repairing.

The work involved carving a new pelvic and dorsal fin and restoration work to the pectoral fin.  The main body of the fish also needed attention and minor repainting. The completed work was done without compromising the originality of the previous artists work so as to blend in seamlessly with the original carving.  A final polish gave a renewed glossy finish.
